This is pretty much a video for those of you too fat or too lazy to go check out gear at a shop by yourself. With regards to helmets. The more expensive the helmet….the more comfortable, and possibly more quiet it will be.

www.revzilla.com We classify Cold Weather / Winter ADV Gear as the most bombproof, rugged and functional gear for extreme cold weather, all-season riding long-distance dualsport riding. ADV gear is meant to take the harshest of on-road and off-road beatings while staying completely waterproof and letting your body breathe in active riding conditions via technical membranes like Gore-Tex and others. Most of the jackets and pants in this video fall into the elite class of product utilizing space age fabrics and technologies like GORE-TEX Membranes, SuperFabric Panels, Molecular SAS-TEC or D30 Armor with shell constructions in excess of 1000 Denier in impact areas. Extreme would be the word used to describe these apex products which are built to handle anything in any condition. Most of these jackets will also have great ventilation and removable liners as well for flexibility in the warmer seasons making them true 4-season options. Expect this class of cold weather jackets, pants, boots and gloves to provide superior quality at a higher than average price. Cold Weather & Winter Sport Riding Motorcycle Gear Guide at RevZilla.com

www.revzilla.com Cold Weather Sport Motorcycling typically calls for gear that does a few things really well. The first is keep you warm, the second is provide function, safety and style which match your sport ride. We chose gear options for this guide which offer a built in or removable thermal lining, are at least water resistant, if not completely waterproof, as well as carry that sporty aggressive style which goes hand in hand with riding 3/4 or in the tuck. The price ranges on these options vary and we compare and contrast the best of what we saw from popular brands like Alpinestars, Icon, Cortech and REV’IT!. We also know that many sport riders leave the bike in the garage when it is raining, snowy or wet; that said, we opted to keep some water resistant style options in the mix to offer some more reasonably priced but protective options. We know it’s cold, but if you are a spirited sport rider who wants to stick it to mother nature these options could work really well. REV’IT!, FirstGear, Dainese, Olympia Gear are covered for 2010. Motorcycle Gear is SEXY (and squids are NOT)!!

I never ask this, but please rate and such to spread the word. Since leaving Missouri (where helmets are required by law), I have been appalled at the number of riders I see without proper gear. I would say at least 80% of riders I’ve seen here in the Chicago area do not have helmets, or any protective gear for that matter. What continues to surprise me is how many of these guys think they actually look good when they ride in just a t-shirt and jeans. Or no shirt. Or a helmet, with no shirt, and shorts. Why bother with the helmet? ANYway, I’m truly hoping this video convinces some of these squids to wear protective gear. If it helps save even one life, I’d be elated. Iroquois had a video where he mentioned guys who just want to “look cool” on their bikes. I think these guys fall largely in the same category.. Remember: Gear doesn’t make you a nerd. It’ll save your life, your skin, AND get you that girl’s number. ;-)
