The sleepy old town of Northam was Invaded by bikes of all sorts for the weekend of the Festival, the towns streets are turned into a race track, the best Australian Super Moto riders are battling against the worlds best such as David Gozzini. Mablethorpe Motorcycle Festival
DESPITE the rain crowds turned out to support the first Mablethorpe Motorcycle Festival on Saturday. Residents and visitors to the resort were treated to nail biting displays by stunt riders from the group Skard4life, a variety of trade stalls, and live entertainment in the evening. The festival was organised by local couple Gary Barnes and Tina Ambridge who now plan to hold it annually. Gary said: “We were really pleased with how well the event was supported, and the stunt guys put on a fantastic show, especially considering the slippery wet conditions. We estimate around 3000 people came throughout the day and the town was heaving on Sunday too as many visitors would have stayed for the weekend.” The festival was held in aid of the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance and to celebrate 40 years of sand racing on Mablethorpe beach. Gary said: “It’s ironic really as the Air Ambulance was called out twice to the sand racing on Sunday, so it really is a worthwhile cause.” He added: “I would like to say thanks to members of the public who dropped money into the collection buckets and everyone who came to support the event.” Donations are still being counted but Gary said he hopes the total amount raised will be around £2000
