The New Harley-Davidson Breakout Debuted In Daytona Beach
The new Harley-Davidson Breakout motorcycle was revealed to the public in Daytona Beach, Fla., during the annual Daytona Bike Week motorcycle rally. With authentic swagger that turns heads in traffic and a proud stance certain to draw a curb-side crowd on bike night, the Breakout is presented as a premium model in its segment with distinctive finishes and specific components not available on other Harley-Davidson bikes.
Like the acclaimed 2013 Custom Vehicle Operations Breakout model that precedes it, the Breakout features styling that’s smooth, tight, and intended to showcase the engine and the tires.
“With Breakout we got down to motorcycle essentials, which means emphasizing the powertrain and the wheels,” says Harley-Davidson Styling Manager Kirk Rasmussen. “The black and chrome engine visually pops out of the center the bike, and then to maximize the impact of the tires, the fenders are chopped. We wanted a lot of rubber showing to give the Breakout a tough, muscular look.”
Long and low-slung, the Breakout features a 240mm rear tire visually balanced with thick forks and chopped fenders, while a shaved tank console and a drag handlebar keep the profile low. Read more
Free Mobile Phone App Offers Instant Protection to Motorcyclists
Bikers Friend provides an effortless way to document motorcycle accidents instantly from your mobile device, collecting evidence that can be used to protect bikers, and offers immediate guidance and other support just when a motorcyclist needs it the most. Created by an innovative media company, Bikers Friend is currently available for Android and Apple devices.
“Bikers Friend is one of those phone apps you hope you never need,” says Colin Mahoney, creator of http://www.motorcyclecompensation.com, “but you’ll be awfully glad you have it if you ever caught in an accident.” Indeed, as more and more vehicles take to the road, there will inevitably be more road traffic accidents. “This free app is the best witness any motorcyclist could ever have after an accident,” says Mahoney. “By providing an extra layer of protection for motorcyclists, and hard proof and evidence for insurers, we make an already stressful situation a little bit easier for all involved.”
Bikers Friend records such data as to the biker’s exact location (with overlays on a Google map), the other driver’s registration number and other important information. There is also a voice and video recording facility for recording aggression, vehicle damage and admissions of liability. Bikers Friend can also locate and call the nearest emergency services – police, ambulance or fire department. It provides step-by-step guidance on what to do after an incident. If the user chooses to do so, the app will send all information to Motorcycle Compensation for immediate assessment by a qualified motorcycle riding solicitor giving a response within one hour. However, the app can also be used for storing information without giving Motorcycle Compensation.com instructions to act. Read more
Zero Motorcycles Announces All-New 2013 Zero Police And Security Motorcycles
Zero Motorcycles announced the launch of its all-new 2013 Zero Police and Security line-up. In 2012, the highly popular Zero DS Police Motorcycle led the market as the only law enforcement product offering by Zero, but 2013 will see both the Zero S and Zero DS outfitted for law enforcement and security details. Appropriately titled the Zero S Police/Security and Zero DS Police/Security, both were developed specifically for police and security agencies.
Zero Motorcycles set out to offer two distinct models this year because the company saw a significant increase in demand for street and dual sport police motorcycles on a global level with many Asian, European and South American countries taking interest. North America continues to be in high demand as well. After launching the 2012 Zero DS Police Motorcycle, many law enforcement agencies have now had the model in the field for more than a year and demand continues to rise for the popular motorcycle. Law enforcement agencies have found the motorcycle to be incredibly reliable, maneuverable and economically feasible. Zero continues to work directly with a variety of international law enforcement, security and military agencies. This new model is the result of these collaborative efforts.
“After seeing the success the 2012 model had in the field, we decided to expand our 2013 police and security offerings. To have the support of so many different law enforcement agencies and security organizations is an incredible honor,” said John Lloyd , Vice President of Global Sales for Zero Motorcycles. “As we stated last year, police officers put their lives on the line every day to protect and serve, so it’s imperative that we give them all the tools necessary to allow them to be successful. The 2013 Police and Security line-up does that exceptionally well.” Read more
